I’m in the middle of brainstorming for my dissertation and would love some input. There are so many possible sociology of education dissertation topics — from the impact of social class on educational attainment, to the role of cultural capital, policy reforms, inequality in access, and even how digital learning is reshaping education systems.

For those of you who’ve researched in this area (or are doing it now), how did you narrow down your focus? And which areas of sociology and education do you think are most relevant today?
